Noopura Institute of Classical Dance and Music is located at Poojappura, Trivandrum. At Noopura courses offered in various subjects, including mohiniyattam, bharatha natyam, kuchipudi, odissy, kathakali, veena, violin, guitar, keyboard,etc.

Students receive sound training in the practice and theory of several classical dance styles from India namely Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and Mohiniattam. Students also receive training in semi-classical and folk dancing. Noopura is dedicated to promoting Indian dance in keeping with the strict traditions of these ancient arts. The mission of Noopura Institute is to provide dance training of the highest quality while keeping tuition costs low thereby enabling all interested children and adults to learn these ancient art forms from India. One of the oldest dance schools bases in Trivandrum ,Kerala, Noopura Institute of Classical Dance and Music Dance Academy has trained several thousand students.India has a very rich tradition of classical dance. The Natya Shastra, which is the oldest surviving text on stagecraft in the world, spends a considerable time discussing it. In the old days of the theatre, the dancers would mime the story while the singers would sing the dialogue. The instrumentalists would accompany them all. The nature of the old theatre was such that the dancers occupied a central position.

For many centuries the dancers were attached to the temples. This maintained a strong religious flavour to dance. Even today many of the traditional themes are mythological in nature.
